Unrelated yet related to this. I watched a video with this same song playing. The scene was pretty damn violent and yet listening to the song completely desensitized me to it. This song is too hilarious.
This video probably ruined it for you, especially since Ponyo likes saying boat a lot in a certain scene.
Even without the Ponyo mental connection I still probably wouldn't be able to listen to this song without laughing. It cracks me up, the fact its paired with a water based movie makes it even better.
